Historic Downtown New Bedford Loft

BEFORE: This kitchen didn’t have a lot of stand out features. The plain black stone and light cabinets did not let it live up to it’s potential.

AFTER: These rich dark cabinets mixed with the open shelving and gorgeous countertops make this kitchen look completely different and the fun accents make it totally unique!

This bathroom has something unique everywhere you turn! Check out the gorgeous gilded mirror and tub, as well as the funky floor and shower tiles. Truly extraordinary.

Hixville Kitchen

Sometimes we forget about where each job starts. We are super excited to share this incredible transformation, as this was one unforgettable 'before'

BEFORE: So much red! These outdated cabinets and their hardware, paired with the red appliances, made this kitchen look super old fashioned.

AFTER: You wouldn’t even know this was the same kitchen! Stainless steel appliances and hardware update the space to modern day. White Omega cabinets and white quartz counter tops brighten everything up.

Painted Cabinets: Expectation Vs. Reality

Thank you “This Old House” for answering this frequently asked question about painted cabinet cracks!

Q: I redid my kitchen with top-of-the-line painted maple cabinets, but there are cracks between the stiles and rails of the new cabinet doors. The kitchen company that sold them to me said that the cracks were normal, as they were smaller than the thickness of a piece of paper. But I think the cracks are unsightly and don't believe this is normal. What do you think?
— Susan, Hingham, MA

Norm Abram replies: Hairline cracks are unavoidable in wood cabinets, top-of-the-line or not. They occur wherever there's a joint between pieces of wood with grain running in different directions: for example, the joints between stiles and rails on the doors or the face frames that surround openings. The pieces expand and contract at different rates with changes in humidity, since wood movement is much more pronounced across the grain than with it. A painted finish, no matter how good or how carefully applied, just can't keep up.
Every species and grade of solid wood behaves this way, although cracks are more noticeable on light-colored cabinets than on dark ones. Some cabinet suppliers warn clients about this in advance, and even require them to sign a waiver saying that some cracking in the finish is likely. Still, maple is about the best wood you could have chosen for painted cabinets because of its stability.
The cracks will probably be more noticeable in winter than in summer because heat dries everything out. Check with the cabinet manufacturer to see if they recommend a particular humidity level for your house, which you can keep relatively constant with a humidifier.

Delano Dream Home

A waterfront retirement oasis for a well deserving couple.

Lots of room their growing family of grandchildren, but still quaint enough for the two of them.

The Kitchen

“This was our second project with Tena and Jill, the first, a kitchen reno about 15 years ago, was exceptional, so of course we returned. This time Tena helped design the cabinetry for our new dream home. The experience was as flawless as we had remembered, and the results are exactly what we had desired. We would not hesitate to recommend Kitchen and Bath Details for any of your cabinet design projects.”

Somerset Glam

When your client asks for a little "bling", you deliver!

This kitchen remodel included brand new side windows opening up everything and letting some much needed natural light into the space.

Don't forget to check out the sparkling chandelier in the bathroom!

I had waited several years to bite the bullet and redo my kitchen and main floor bath. I found Tena via SOCO magazine and set up an appointment. During that initial session I immediately knew that I made the right choice. Tena was very attentive and inquired as to my needs and wants and designed the perfect kitchen that blended function, Style and a bit of glamour. Tena and Jill were available and present throughout installation as well as follow up once construction was complete. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend them and would hire them again for another project. Thank you so much Tena and Jill for making our home even more pleasurable!

Tena is an amazing designer! The first time we met she asked me what I liked about my existing kitchen and what I didn't. She listened to what I'd love in my dream kitchen. Her design captured exactly what I wanted. I didn't change a thing, it was perfect. The layout works so well for cooking and entertaining. I highly recommend Kitchen & Bath Details.

West Island Retreat

West Island

Beach Cottage Retreat

What a transformation! With a lot of vision and creativity, this dated dark cottage was transformed into a gorgeous bright beach retreat. We worked with our clients to select beautiful beach glass tones reminiscent of life on West Island and keep the floor plan wide open. Our client worked diligently to find the “perfect” shelving material that would be both unique and have some meaning. He struck gold with gorgeous reclaimed stair treads from the old mills in New Bedford. So cool!

The end result is just breathtaking… and our clients couldn’t be happier. This makes us ecstatic!

‘Of all the mayhem that can go with a home renovation, our experience with Kitchen and Bath Details was by far the most enjoyable and fun aspect of our project. Working with Tena and Jill from the initial design concept, choosing finishes and the final delivery was low pressure and relaxed at every step. Our contractor remarked more than once on the precision and detail that came with the kitchen plans at delivery, and how they were the best he had seen, making his job much easier in his own words. We achieved a dream kitchen that functions perfectly, all while combining today's technology with current design trends that tie modern clean lines with reclaimed and traditional elements of the cottage we renovated. We couldn't have done it without Kitchen and Bath Details. Tena and Jill have our thanks and appreciation. We can't speak highly enough of this experience, and recommend them wholeheartedly.’ Justin T.

North6 Kitchen | Master Bath

North6 Kitchen | Master Bath

Our North6 Project came to us with a bit of a challenge. To create a cohesive design that would marry this Antique Style Cape to their new addition. While also incorporating the clients personal style of coastal comfortable. As a coastal girl herself Designer Tena Collyer knew exactly how to execute this project. She incorporated the timeless white kitchen with pops of sea glass colors. To do this Tena used Omega Cabinetry in Pure White and then created that custom look with an island in Dove. She tied it all together with antique lanterns above the island by Visual Comfort Co.
